The first thing to tell you is that we have
a new champion clan called the Blood Angels lead by the (in) famous
Stuart Voss. We had squads of 7 players per squad
competing on Sunday over 4 very hard fought missions. Running
this mission 4 times enabled us to let every team try every position
(VIP Party, SASR and Indonesians). Without doubt, Blood
Angels are well led and organised force. Phoenix Konnection
entered two squads from their clan in this tournament.
Both squads made credible efforts although they were not up to
their usual winning form.
See www.lasertag.com.au/tournament.htm
for more details. Stay tuned for details about our next tournament. Again,
you don't have a full team, don't
worry, just email Peter and
he'll match you up with some others and together create a team for you.

From this weekend, lasertag outdoors is on
twice per week. We have a new session each Saturday starting at
12.00pm that runs to around 3.30pm and a Sunday session that runs from
1.00pm to around 4.30pm. In the next few weeks, we are
also hoping to offer night missions on Friday nights, watch the web site
for updates.
THIS SATURDAY
This Saturday is aimed at new players
primarily although everyone is welcome. Missions will
simpler than those that you will see on Sunday.
THIS SUNDAY
This Sunday also sees the return of
Aftermath, the live role-playing campaign. Registration for this is to be
4.30pm and it is expected to finish around 5.30pm. If you
are coming to the Aftermath campaign please email me beforehand so I can
brief you on the scenarios and your character generation.

 Morita
Smart Rifle
This is the
world renown Starship Troopers rifle.
It has both a fully automatic
or single shot rate of fire. Using at 40mm lens system with a SFH484-2
emitter its range is 100 metres +. But its short-range mode (pump-action
blaster) also means it is lethal in close quarters. Sort of like a flame
thrower.
It has a red hyper bright
muzzle flash and multiple sound effects. Plus, it has as built in carry
handle with a Tasco red/green dot sight mount.
It has 15 standard
configurations ranging from a shot gun to a mini gun, typically we configure
it as a Light Machine Gun. Despite its aluminum construction its
weight at 3.5kgs is quite authentic.
Just quietly, this is my
preferred choice of weapon. Overall rating:

The most basic but still effective
military formation is the line. At the recent tournament Blood Angels
regularly advanced in a line to form a Wave. A line brings to bear
maximum fire power on your enemies without the risks associated with
shooting past friendlies. One of the benefits of a line, is that
it takes little training and coordination to achieve.
A slightly more advanced tactic is the use
of reserves under the control of the squad leader or platoon leader.
Reserves that are available and unhurt (full hit points) can be very
useful to quickly fill the line in when the enemy has made a breach or in
attack to take advantage quickly of a gap in the enemies line. The key
thing to understand is that in the confusion of battle, it is very
hard to pull troops out of the front line that are already
engaged quickly due to communication, coordination problems and the
risks involved in retreating from cover under enemy fire.
Reserves therefore are one of the keys to effective team play.

This week, all the long range pistols are
being upgraded to work off NiCads. This means they are soldered in
place and are now more reliable than before. The 4 new SMG units
are now built and will be shipped shortly.
