Sci-Fi Parties made Easy for Boys & Girls

Thinking of a cool party idea is often a challenge. In the quest for a memorable every parent wants to make a fuss and celebrate their gorgeous child’s gaining another year in age.

Nowadays there seem so few occasions where you can announce how proud as punch you are of him or her. Let’s face it, it is not that hard to throw a party. But it can be challenging to throw a good one.

It is what we, as Mothers (or Fathers/Carers), strive for. That delightful sound of when your child exclaims: “Hey Mum, that was the best birthday ever!”

With couple of kids now in their teens I have thrown quiet a few birthday parties in my time. If you are aiming to throw a gung-ho party then here some ideas and inspo to help you make it awesome.

Choosing A Party Theme

If your kids are anything like mine, then they love sci-fi. Yep, Star Wars, Star Trek, Dr Who, pretty much anything science-fiction. Yum, yeah, I have no IDEA where they get that from!! ;-)

Anyway, sci-fi has always been a popular party theme choice for kids, and adults, alike.

Choosing Your Party Decorations

Part of the fun is creating lots of interesting props in your backyard.

Consider you colour scheme: silver, dark blue, black, and grey balloons and streamers are great. If you have time, why not hit the local party shop for stars, sparklers or other sci-fi themed items.

Party Food - Yum!

If you want to go all out you might like to consider MREs (Meals Ready to Eat) from army or navy surplus stores.

But, to be frank, if you've ever eaten one of these they are not really the best fare for kid's birthday parties.

So instead you might like to create your own "ration packs" with chocolate, crackers, and bottles of water.

Costume Party - Cosplay

Why not invite everyone to dress-up?

After all dressing-up is half the fun! Most kids now-a-days have some sort of black or blue outfits in their cupboard, some even have the full Darth Vader regalia. And if not, hire camo coveralls from us (but remember to let us know your size!) Either way we recommend everyone wear long pants and covered shoes.

The Children had a Great time
Hi Tara, Our Carnival has now come and gone, leaving in its wake a large number of very happy young people from around Australia and New Zealand, and a small number of satisfied but tired organisers. Thank you so much for all your assistance. The children who engaged in Laser Tag had a great time. Your arrangements helped ensure that everything went smoothly. Wishing you continuing success. With kind regards
- Tony, Co-Director Sports, Maccabi Junior Carnival

Birthday Cake

One of the benefits of organising a kids' birthday party is that you can choose the cake.

Get into the groove with a cool star-ship cake. A plain sponge cake decorated with thrusters and warp-drive engines is a fun idea. But if you are not a wiz in the kitchen (& let’s face it who has the time?) then let the professionals do it. Professional cakes are available to buy from JudyC, see www.cakesbyjudyc.com.au. Or order a cake kit from Cakes 2 The Rescue, here's a cute rocket ship they offer.
