Voyager Away Mission
TIME: 30 minutes
BACKGROUND
On a
routine away mission to a small planet in the Delta Quadrant, several
members of the Voyager crew,
including Captain Kathryn Janeway, Lt. Belanna Torres-Paris, Lt. Tom Paris,
Seven of Nine, and a small security force, are stranded when a Hirogen
hunting party lands on the planet, and starts hunting them.
The Hirogen vessel forces Voyager
to veer off, unable to return for at least 30 mins, which is probably a
good thing, because 5 mins later the Hirogen vessel was destroyed when a
Borg Cube arrives, to assimilate the planet.
With the cube is a Borg Queen, a worthy trophy for any Hirogen
hunter. Before too long, a
vicious three way firefight erupts, between the Voyager
team, the Hirogen hunting party, and the Borg.
In the midst of all this, the Voyager crew receives a faint
transmission from Voyager…“Chakotay to Janewa…Doctor is
missing….mobile emi…taken…” A
quick scan of the region reveals the mobile-holoemitter used by the
Doctor…right next to the readings for the Borg Queen!
The Voyager crew now have
two objectives…survive, and rescue the Doctor from the Borg, before he is
assimilated! In their way, the
Hirogen, who want trophies from their dead enemies, and the Borg, who want
new members to join the “perfection” of the collective.
VOYAGER BRIEFING
Who are the Voyager
Crew?
An Intrepid-class vessel capable of holding
200 crew members, the U.S.S. Voyager NCC-74656 is one of the
fastest and most powerful starships in Starfleet. On stardate 48307.5, Voyager
was pulled over 70,000 light-years from the Badlands area near Deep Space
Nine by an extragalactic alien dubbed "Caretaker."
Voyager
is currently en route from the Delta Quadrant to Federation space; at
maximum speed, however, the journey may take up to 70 years. Voyager's
folding wing-and-nacelle warp drive system allows the starship to exceed
the warp 5 "speed limit" without polluting the space continuum. Voyager
can reach a speed of warp 9.975, but only for short periods.
Its EPS system and back-up have been
totally modified to employ Enaran power-conservation technology; power
relays on some decks now employ Borg technology. It carried 152 people as
of SD 48975.1; Chakotay doesn't believe it can be operated with less than
100

HIROGEN HUNTING PARTY
BRIEFING
Who are the Hirogen?
A space faring nomadic race of the Delta
Quadrant whose society has been completely based upon the ritual hunt for
a millennium, despite their advanced technological status. All other
species are viewed as prey, not equals, but only challenging prey are
prized and pursued. Competition among males, hunting singly or in packs as
"Alphas" and their subordinate "Betas," is for
trophies or "relics" to display, including victims' skeletal
remains, gutted organs and captured technology and artifacts. An ancient
galaxy-spanning sensor network taken over by the Hirogen, later disabled,
was used by the U.S.S. Voyager to communicate briefly with the Alpha
Quadrant and brought the groups into conflict. In 2374, a visionary Alpha
decided that the U.S.S. Voyager's holodecks would allow his people to
continue the hunt tradition safely while regrouping to preserve their
homeless, ever-dispersed culture; despite his assassination, a younger
successor agreed to follow through with the plan and use Kathryn Janeway's
gift of a holo-program's optronic datacore. Unfortunately, the Hirogen
misused that technology and programmed their prey to be overly cunning and
adaptive — in order to make their hunts more "challenging" —
and essentially gave those holograms self-awareness and a desire for
liberation. Three years after receiving the holographic technology,
disaster ensued at several Hirogen training facilities where the prey
killed their hunters and escaped to free others of their kind and find a
home to call their own.

BORG COLLECTIVE BRIEFING
What are the Borg?
Origin: Delta Quadrant. A
cybernetic life-form thousands of years old which is part organic, part
artificial life. They have advanced well beyond Federation science. The
Borg have a singular goal, namely the consumption of technology, rather
than wealth or political expansion as most species seek. Among
the many advantages their collective consciousness affords them, the Borg
hive-mind allows for instantaneous adaptations to shield and phaser
frequency modulations in combat; they are also able to regenerate and
repair their massive cube ship with the power of their collective thoughts
alone. The hive-mind drones do not register as individual life-signs when
scanned, only as a mass reading and then at a bare minimum. Their Queen is
the most dangerous Borg known.
Objectives & Victory
Points:
- “Assimilate”
(kill) the entire Voyager team
– 200 points
- “Assimilate”
(kill) the entire Hirogen hunting party – 150 points
