Operation Gold Mine

BACKGROUND

Origin: Starfleet Command...
Status: Priority one.
Decrypting...
It ::Viewers blink to life all over the super station revealing the standard
of
Starfleet Command, while every Starfleet Vessel in responding distance are
simultaneously sent a subspace communiqué containing the following
message::

Attention Starfleet Personnel,

A few hours ago, Starfleet vessels near the Solomon sector interrupted a
pirate group's attempt at plundering the Latinum refinery on Solomon V.
Surprised by our vessels' quick response times, the pirates have "dug in",
taken hostages and vowed to begin slaughtering their prisoners if they are
not granted safe passage off the planet and through the sector...

Starfleet Command will not concede to their demands. The pirates
immediately
seized control of the mining facility's environmental controls and command center, having diverted all command functions to the Command Center they have complete control over the facility's life support and access/exit
airlocks. The situation is compounded as ambassadors from two Federation
Member Planets were touring the facility at the time it was attacked. The
ambassadors must be liberated swiftly and safely.

Recent scans of the planet show the planet is mostly like Earth but a
large forest within a mountainous area surrounds the area the refinery is in.
This is why it was so easy for the Pirates to take the Refinery in the first
place.

We will then use this against them.

There were concentrations of life forms within a number of major areas
near
the refinery. The main ones are suggested to be groups of pirates and/or
Refinery workers. The other single small group is suggested to be the
group
of the two ambassadors. The last known location of the hostages was
someone
around the Refinery's perimeter but not within the Refinery itself. This
was
gathered through the quick scan sweeps from when we were still in
Geo-synchronous orbit of Solomon V.

The 2 Away Teams will then thus be allocated as follows:

Alpha Team will be the rescue team to go after the hostages and the
captive
Ambassadors. Do not let any of the ambassadors die. We do not need angry
Ambassadors on our hands.

Bravo Team will head out after the team from the Landing Zone and head out
towards the Refinery to reclaim it with minimal to no civilian casualties.

Due to the nature of this mission Alpha Team's objective is a must! Follow
this objective to the final order. The Pirates actions are unknown at the
moment to whether they know of the Ambassadors, but it is too early to
tell without any clear information.

Its also unknown if there will be any patrols of pirates around the
Refinery
as the scans had trouble penetrating the forest canopy due to
concentration of various metals and crystals.

The Landing Zone is estimated to be roughly south of the Refinery by
approximately 8.5 kms but the current location of the hostages is a big
unknown.

Go into this mission alert. We don't need any trigger-happy phasers on the
field.

SKILLS
Each player will be granted one of the following skills for the LARP:

Command: This is the Team's leader. Only one member of each team may have this skill at one time. This member will also be assigned a radios. But if
there is a second or more officers with the Command skill can take over
the Leader's position if he dies.

Communications

The communications officer is assigned a radio that provides inter and
intra team communications.

Engineering: This skill allows the officer to be able to see what has gone
wrong with a piece of equipment or machinery, as well as be able to see
what has gone wrong with it or how it was damaged/destroyed.

Science: This skill allows the officer to do geological/chemical/wildlife
scans to find out needed information. Due to this they are also the Team's scouts and trackers. They also have a tricorder always with them for their duty.

Medical: This officer has the ability to heal the wounded but must be at
the side of the wounded within 5 minutes of their death. The Medical Officer then has to stay with the patient for another 2 minutes to heal them up
back to 3 hit points of their total 5 hit points. They always have a tricorder
on themselves as well as their medical equipment.

Security: A officer who has abilities of the Security department is able
to use computer systems to shut down security and monitoring systems as well
as other abilities to disable computers. They are able to find various
information from computer systems if it is needed to be done.

In addition we are assigning 4 radios for the players use. In the battle
missions, this will mean 2 radios per team and in the LARP means 4
communications officers.
