Aftermath: The Story

The year is 2011.

In 2008 an infection hit Afghanistan and Iran and started to spread like wildfire. Rumours said it was a biological weapon gone wrong. Millions died in the first few weeks. Emergency services were overwhelmed. The infection spread to Pakistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan. The Indians fearing that their borders would soon be compromised ordered a limited nuclear attack on Pakistan to try and prevent the spread of the disease. They were unsuccessful.

The US stepped in and threatened retaliation if they did not immediately cease and desist.

Still the infection spread. The death rate of the infection was 95%. Initial symptoms were hideous headaches, and after a long incubation period, the victim became insane, eventually dying.  The disease became known as "brain lightning".

As the pandemonium grew there was a huge anti-technology backlash. Blame was placed on the scientists. The Luddites believed that technology, bio-warfare and virus research brought this pandemonium on ourselves.

In 2010, as society was collapsing, you and your group escaped the brain lightning by fleeing to your bunker in remote far north Queensland.

Prior to your hasty retreat your group buried some additional supplies approximately 20 kilometres south of the bunker. (These had to be cached because your one of your four wheel drives broke an axel.)

After a year in isolation you and your group are running low on food and medicine. Your first mission is to seek these cached supplies...

It is now the year 2011.
