TIME LINE: September
1964 |
Conrad is a member of SEAL team one on
assignment in Vietnam to train and work with Vietnamese Frogmen and
some out of country mercenaries. The rest of your team is made of
Chinese Nungs. The radio call sign for your team is “Team Hun”. The
overall objective of your team is to sting the northern communists,
Unfortunately your CIA masters, have as their primary objective of
deniability. No matter how the team fares, the American elements
must keep their involvement secret.
The North Vietnamese intelligence network is excellent. SOG advisors
suspect that many of their missions are being compromised by agents
near or even in their Da Nang Base.
For the Switch House Demolition Mission the team consists of
Chinese Nungs (Vietnamese but racially chinese) .generally armed
45-caliber M3A1 sub machine guns (Must use old Spitfires or SMG’s,
not new models). They dislike the other Vietnamese, northern or
southern. Since they are well paid, the Nung mercenary team, they
are loyal. Up to two Nungs can be armed with RPK light machine guns
(Morita’s).
Two of the Nungs are dressed in a uniform close to that NVA and also
armed with Swedish K with silencers (new Spitfires on Sci Fi Mode).
They are to get as close to the guards as possible and take them out
before they can return fire or scream for help. Generally silenced
weapons are not loud enough to alert the enemy to the team’s
presence.
Conrad is the leader and is US SEAL. Conrad is not wearing any unit
insignia or the like, so if captured or killed can be claimed to be
a mercenary. Armed with a 9mm Swedish-made weapon – Swedish K.
(Because of the silencers used, players are to set these to lower
volume sci-fi sound – New Spitfires to be used).
The ex-French Legionnaire who is a specialist demolitions expert is
along as a mercenary and is critical to the team success. Also armed
with the silenced 9mm Swedish-made weapon – Swedish K.
The team is also allocated one claymore. No Mortars are allowed
because they are too bulky to swim with.
For the live action segment, the mission assumes the whole team has
just landed.
Method of insertion: Scouts Swam into and landed near the village of
Ly Nhon Nam. The rest of the team arrived by rubber boats launched
from “Nasty Boats” – a form of fast patrol and torpedo boat about 1
mile off shore. The landing is north of the southernmost staging
based for the North Vietnamese Army in the city of Dong Hoi. The
Nasty’s are crewed by Norwegian Mercenaries that will not land.
Fire Support Availability: Nasties are waiting off shore for
emergency extraction and fire support. No artillery or air support
is available.
Enemy Movement Information: This is NVA homeland and the NVA can be
expected to be alert due to previous commando raids. Avoid contact
whenever possible. A lot of truck movement has been spotted high
attitude spy planes. Enemy can be expected to arrive in numbers from
the north and the south once alerted. Also there are guards expected
at the Switch house and nearby is expected to be rest of the NVA
platoon not currently on duty.
Terrain: Mixed urban, fields and jungle
Special Rules: Demolition charge can only be set by the Legionnaire
and will require 2 minutes at the switch house. Unless otherwise
noted, all weapons must be set to normal combat sounds effects.
Mission Objectives: The idea is to slip in, keep a low profile and
then slip out once the demolition charge has been set. If there is
any fighting required, the is to hit hard at close range and then
run back to the boats. The target is a railway switch house, it must
be destroyed by the legionnaire with a demolition charge. The
mission is a total failure if the ex French legionnaire is captured.
He is included in the mission because he is a specialist in the use
of the very secret specially constructed demolition charge and
initiator required to achieve the mission objective. It also is very
damaging to morale if any injured or killed Nung are left in North
Vietnam.
Method of Extraction: Ideally leave quietly by rubber boats but if
needed can swim out under fire to the Nasty’s for emergency
extraction. |
